Bipartisan bill package would implement Constitutional Carry in Michigan

Categories: Steven Johnson News

This week, State Rep. Steve Johnson introduced legislation as part of a bipartisan package of bills to implement ‘Constitutional Carry’ in Michigan.

These bills would allow individuals who legally own a pistol to legally carry in places where either Concealed Pistol License holders or open carry is currently allowed.

“I am a staunch supporter of our constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” said Johnson, R-Wayland. “Today more than ever, it is vital that Michigan residents are able to protect themselves and their families. I am proud to be a part of this legislative effort to preserve our Second Amendment rights here in Michigan.”

If this legislation is adopted, Michigan would join a growing list of 12 states that have passed laws protecting ‘Constitutional Carry.’
This package of bills has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee for further consideration.
